Enagic Review (2024): Legit MLM or Scam?

Have you ever been lured into an opportunity that seemed too good to be true? That was my unfortunate experience with Enagic, a company I had never heard of until a friend-turned-hunbot introduced me to their so-called life-changing business.

The initial pitch was enticing – flexible hours, control over my workload, and the dream of escaping the clutches of an annoying boss. Who wouldn’t be tempted by the promise of financial freedom and independence?

Although Enagic’s machines are the only ones producing Kangen water due to the trademarked term, there are many other alkaline water options available.

Many studios that have Kangen machines claim that drinking this water can lead to less muscle soreness, faster recovery, less fatigue, and better recovery. But is this really possible? According to Steven Gundry, M.D., the alkaline water craze is overblown, and the alkalinity of water does nothing to “alkalinize” the body. In fact, alkaline water is not capable of neutralizing acids as effectively as sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) can.

If you’re considering buying a Kangen Water machine, you should know that it’s quite expensive, costing around $4000. This is significantly more expensive than other alkaline water machines that are available on Amazon. Moreover, Enagic has a multi-level marketing (MLM) business model to sell its products, relying on its members to sell the machines and earn commissions. Who’s Behind Enagic?

Hironari Ohshiro is the founder and CEO of Enagic, a Japanese man who established the business in 1974. The company, although it didn’t adopt the name Enagic until 1990, is still considered great by Ohshiro.

He highlights that Enagic is unique as “the only water filtration and alkaline-ionizer distribution company in the world with its own OEM manufacturing facility in Japan and ISO certified quality control processes.”

However, the specificity of these claims makes it unsurprising that no other company shares all these attributes. The reputation of Ohshiro’s company has suffered in recent years due to increased online scrutiny of MLM companies, helping people discern which ones are trustworthy.

If you’re looking to earn commissions with Enagic, you’ll be happy to know that they offer a number of ways to make money. Here’s a rundown of what’s available:

How to Make Money from Enagic?

To make money with Enagic, as it operates as an MLM, your options are limited to two methods:

1. Selling Products
2. Recruiting Members

To make the most money with Enagic, it’s important to focus on making direct sales. The more machines you sell, the higher you can move up in the ranks, and the more money you can make.

However, you don’t have to sell all the machines yourself. People in your downline who make sales also help you earn commissions, so most Engaic distributors would rather focus on recruiting new members. 

To reach the highest rank in Engaic, you’ll need to sell 100 machines. While this may seem like a daunting task, if you are good at recruiting downlines, you’ll achieve this goal. 

That said, the MLM model isn’t sustainable, and over time, you’ll run out of people to recruit. 

As for potential earnings, despite Enagic selling expensive products, the company has never released an income disclosure statement since its inception.

Is Enagic An MLM?

Yes, Enagic is an MLM (multi-level marketing) company that is well-known for its flagship product, the Kangen water machine. Enagic’s business model can also be referred to as network or direct sales.

As an Enagic sales representative, you won’t receive a regular salary. Instead, you’ll operate your own business as an independent dealer of Enagic products after joining their MLM program. However, making a substantial income solely from selling their products is unlikely. As with most MLM programs, your success depends on recruiting new members to work under you. You’ll earn a commission on the sales and new recruits generated by the people you hire once they start producing results.

The MLM structure is complex, and it’s often depicted as a triangle. As an upline, you’ll earn commissions from everyone in the triangle, including those beneath you (known as your “downline”), if the person at the top recruits ten people, and each of these ten recruits ten more. If you can bring in ten people, you’ll make $1100.

In a multi-level marketing company like Enagic, most people would prefer to earn a lifetime passive income from recruiting others than a one-time commission from selling products, even if the MLM offers a wide range of products. This approach favors those at the top of the triangle, who typically achieve the most financial success, while those at the base earn the least.

Having a large number of people in your downline is crucial for success in a multi-level marketing company like Enagic.

Is Enagic a Pyramid Scheme?

At first glance, Enagic seems distinct from a pyramid scheme. Why? Enagic members can make money by selling products and recruiting new members. On the other hand, a pyramid scheme is a dishonest money-making setup that thrives on recruiting more and more participants.

But here’s the catch: while it’s not a classic pyramid scheme, it operates under the MLM umbrella.

The truth? If you’re not into recruiting, making significant money with Enagic becomes an uphill battle. While selling their Kangen water machines is promoted, the big bucks lie in recruiting. 

Yes, Enagic might not fit the textbook definition of a pyramid scheme, but its structure is uncomfortably similar. It feels like a pyramid scheme in MLM attire, where recruitment takes center stage.

Returning products within one week to one month may incur fees.

Pros and Cons of Enagic MLM

Pros:

• No registration fee is required to join, but you’ll need to purchase a product first.
• The Better Business Bureau (BBB) gives Enagic a grade of A+.

Cons:

• Some customers have raised concerns about the health claims made by Enagic, and there’s no evidence to support them.
• If your Enagic product breaks, customers report that they won’t purchase it again.

Is Enagic a Scam?

No, it’s not a complete scam, but it falls short of my expectations. Entering Enagic with dreams of financial freedom, I found the reality behind the promise of easy money. The MLM scheme’s pathways to prosperity—selling products and recruiting members—turned out to be deceptive.

Enagic simplifies making money as selling products and recruiting, but the experience is complex. The promised income for new recruits is mostly an illusion, attainable only for those at the top.

Hoping to escape the corporate grind, I found myself in a system worse than the nine-to-five routine. Enagic offers no stable wages; members essentially work for free, relying on commissions. Daily product sales are impractical, and the pyramid structure leads to fewer potential recruits.

In the competitive MLM world, success depends on recruitment, not product sales, raising concerns about sustainability and ethics.

Despite high-priced products, Enagic contradicts expectations. Shockingly, the company has never released an income disclosure statement, leaving members unaware of actual earning potential.

Why I Don’t Recommend Enagic?

Enagic Kangen Water has gained quite a reputation among health enthusiasts and sales representatives alike.

However, there are some red flags you might want to consider before investing in them.

1. False Health Claims on Kangen Water

Kangen sales representatives might have told you about the health benefits of consuming Kangen water. They claim that alkaline water can neutralize acidity in your bloodstream and prevent diseases such as cancer and heart disease. However, these claims are not backed up by enough scientific evidence.

Many experts dismiss the supposed capabilities of alkaline water as there is no proof that it is any more beneficial than plain water for most people.

Therefore, spending thousands of dollars on a Kangen water machine might not be worth it, especially when plain water can do the job just fine.

2. Very Few People Can Make Money with Enagic

Enagic is an MLM company, and like most MLMs, success is difficult to achieve. Statistics show that 72.5 percent to 99.9 percent of MLM members lose money, and Enagic is no exception.

The reason for this is that MLMs have sales quotas that require members to continue selling products to remain active and eligible for commissions. Members who fail to meet the quota will not be paid, which can result in losing a significant amount of money before even recruiting one person into the company.

3. You May Need to Purchase Kangen Water Machines Yourself

If you don’t have a large network of friends and family to sell to, you may need to purchase Enagic’s products yourself each month.

This can be a losing proposition in the long run and may lead to significant financial losses.

4. Overpriced Kangen Water Machines

Enagic’s Kangen Water Machines are priced much higher than other quality ionizers on the market.

Even more concerning, Enagic’s competitors also offer alkaline water machines that are certified medical devices with Japanese-made electrode plates.

This makes it challenging to sell Enagic products, as potential customers can find similar products elsewhere for much less. This is a common issue with MLMs, where the focus can be on recruitment rather than selling actual products.

5. Bad Reputation of Enagic’s MLM Business Model

Enagic’s MLM business model has a bad reputation, which can make it difficult to recruit new members or convince potential customers to buy products.

The distribution of commissions is skewed toward the top, with the majority of those in the top tier and pioneers making the most money.

This means that most people who join Enagic are unlikely to make a profit, and many are left with a lot of useless products they couldn’t sell. As a result, Enagic is not considered a legitimate business opportunity by many people.

6. Exaggerated Claims of Income

Like other MLM companies, Enagic makes exaggerated income claims that don’t match the reality of most distributors.

In fact, Enagic’s low retention rate means that less than 41% of its distributors are active, and over 99% of Enagic distributors never make a profit.

While some people may benefit financially from joining Enagic, the vast majority will not.

7. Recruiting is Key to Success
